Working in insurance is about finding the right solution for clients, no matter your role. As Senior Vice President, Global Head of Contracts and Associate General Counsel at Acrisure Re, Acrisure's reinsurance division, Emily Rudowitz uses her legal expertise to negotiate the best terms and conditions for clients. She's the latest colleague to be interviewed in our series for Insurance Careers Month.
Brittany: How did you end up in insurance?
Emily: It was an accident really! After graduating from law school, I was offered a position at a law firm that specialized in reinsurance and insurance matters. The rest is history!
Brittany: Law and insurance is certainly a unique combo. What does that look like day-to-day?
Emily: I am currently the Global Head of Contracts at Acrisure Re. I oversee all aspects of the reinsurance contract drafting processes and work with our reinsurance account managers and brokers to negotiate the best terms and conditions for our clients. I have worked for various reinsurance companies in their Legal/Contracts departments in my career.
Brittany: What do you like most about your job?
Emily: I love that the reinsurance market is constantly evolving. My job is never boring, and I am constantly learning new things. I can be an expert in a field that most people know nothing about.
Brittany: You've worked a few different places - what makes Acrisure Re different?
Emily: I love the sense of camaraderie at Acrisure Re. Everyone's opinion is valued, and everyone has a seat at the table.
As a whole, our data and technology platforms greatly enhance the services we are able to provide to our clients.
Brittany: What advice do you have for someone just getting started?
Emily: Find a niche and stick with it. Experienced people in the industry are always in high demand. Insurance is never going away!
